Political Thought, Society and Law

The faculty board of the curriculum in "Political Thought, Society, and Law" is characterized, on the one hand, by a strong interdisciplinary approach that encompasses expertise ranging from political thought, sociology, law, history, anthropology, demography, and statistics. On the other hand, it aims to bring together these diverse competencies around the theme of vulnerability—understood as a condition of fragility, the possibility of being easily affected, attacked, or even simply influenced. This concept may apply, for instance, to a nation, a political-institutional system, society as a whole, as well as specific groups or individuals (who may be vulnerable due to their inherent nature or particular circumstances). This theme, which lends itself to analysis from multiple scientific perspectives, will serve as a common thread for the research projects of doctoral candidates. They will have the opportunity to explore it through a specific analytical approach based on their individual scientific interests, under the guidance of a tutor specialized in the field. At the same time, they will benefit from other disciplinary perspectives through discussion and collaboration with peers and the faculty members of the board.
